LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) - A new school police department is facing questions about hiring, staffing and internal operations - but what's happening in Leander ISD could be a preview of challenges facing school districts across Texas.

This week on "Cause & Effect," KXAN Investigates examines the Leander ISD Police Department, more than a year after the district launched its own agency.

KXAN has confirmed the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement is investigating the department's staffing issues, while state records show nearly half of the officers who started with the department have since left.
