Sherman Bearcats prepare for 128th Battle of the Ax

Sherman High School held a pep rally to prepare for the 128th annual Battle of the Ax rivalry game against Denison.

SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Sherman ISD held its annual pep rally at the high school courtyard this year ahead of the 128th Battle of the Ax against Denison."It's very crazy, everyone is so excited and there is just a lot of anticipation for the game," said Emelyn Franklin, a Sherman senior.

Sherman Mayor Shawn Teamann said at the pep rally that the ax would return to Sherman."And that ax is going to find its way back home right here to Bearcat Nation," Teamann said.

History of the rivalryFor 11 years, the Denison Yellowjackets held the winning streak, and the ax was kept at Munson Stadium.
