Kerr County Friends of the Night Sky has announced the installation of its first permanent Sky Quality Meter on Sept. 7, marking a milestone in the nonprofit's efforts to measure and mitigate light pollution across Kerr County.

The meter, designated KC001, was mounted this week near an observatory north of Ingram.

This is the second meter available to provide data on Kerr County sky quality.
