Texas Division of Emergency Management officials met with Uvalde city and county leaders Sept. 17 to explain what costs could qualify for FEMA public assistance ahead of an Oct. 1 application deadline.

The 10 a.m. meeting at the county courthouse also marked the first public appearance of FEMA officials in Uvalde County.

This process applies only to eligible government entities and certain nonprofits.
