NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - It's not often that a student-athlete makes the jump from the 3A level to Division I. It's even more rare for one to see the field and take meaningful snaps.

Former New Diana Eagle Jaiyden Johnson has started at cornerback for Stephen F. Austin in all six games of his sophomore season.

Johnson's recruitment to SFASFA head coach Colby Carthel described recruiting Johnson out of high school."He's a two sport star. Nobody else wanted him. But we saw him and we had him in camp... went to his games and like, this guy can play and he's got a pine tree within 100 yards of his front door. So let's get him here to Nacogdoches," Carthel said.
