The Comal Independent School District broke ground Thursday morning on a new building at Canyon High School that will house the school's Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) and career and technical education (CTE) programs.

Chief Operations Officer Mark Stahl said the new building will provide the programs with the space, resources and environment they deserve.

The project is part of the May 2023 bond, and the district hopes to open the building's doors in 2027. "On behalf of Comal ISD, we want to thank our taxpayers for voting for this, and more importantly, that you contributed to making a difference in the lives that are going to be served in this building," Superintendent John Chapman said.
