The New Braunfels solid waste and recycling division of the public works department and the parks and recreation department have earned the Texas Municipal League's (TML) R.O.A.D. Ready designation, as proclaimed by city council on Oct. 12. R.O.A.D. Ready is a risk pool program that raises awareness of dangers on and near roadways in an effort to save lives, prevent injuries and protect property.

"This distinction reflects the ongoing commitment of the city and our team to managing risks and making safety a foundational part of daily operations," city of New Braunfels Public Works Director Greg Malatek stated in a press release.

The acronym, R.O.A.D., highlights the main components that allow an organization to be prepared for driving-related risks, the press release stated.
