(KGNS) - SNAP benefit payments increased starting Thursday, Oct. 1, as cost-of-living adjustments took effect, while stricter eligibility rules are expected in the coming months.
For a family of four, the adjustment adds about $29 a month.
The increase is meant to offset inflation, but advocates said it does little to offset rising food costs, especially with tougher eligibility rules on the horizon.
