CONROE, Texas (KBTX) - The Conroe Police Department (CPD) is investigating reports of threats and harassing communications directed toward city council members and staff.

Investigators are working with county, state and federal law enforcement partners to identify the source of the communications, preserve evidence, assess safety concerns and determine if any crimes occurred.

On Facebook, the department said it recognizes the right to free speech, but also the duties that come with protecting the community.
