A Houston man in his 40s was shot late Tuesday night after a routine trip to buy a soda turned dangerous.

The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 15 near Liberty Road and Staples Street.

According to Houston Police Department, the man had just left a nearby corner store when he encountered an unknown individual.
