SURFSIDE BEACH, Texas (KTRK) -- A search for a missing teen swimmer in Surfside Beach on Friday has transitioned to recovery efforts, according to the Surfside Beach Police Department.

Police said that they received a distress call at 1:30 p.m. regarding a 16-year-old boy in water off the main entrance along the intersection of Bluewater Highway and Texas State Highway 332.

Upon arrival, authorities launched a drone for the search.
