Welding II students at Canyon High School will earn six credits to use toward an associate's degree at Texas State Technical College this school year through a new dual credit partnership between the schools.

The partnership reflects the Comal Independent School District's increased focus on college, career and military readiness (CCMR) efforts in recent years.

The district's CCMR rate rose from 80% to 90% in 2026, The Herald-Zeitung previously reported.
