Dozens of local exhibitors were available Saturday at the 2nd annual Senior Empowerment Expo at the Dietert Center sponsored by Wright's Funeral Parlor.

The theme of the event was, "Resources, Connections, and Brighter Tomorrows." "Dietert likes to provide seniors in our community with the opportunity to come in and see local agencies and programs that work directly with seniors and their needs," said Dietert Center executive director Brenda Thompson.

Thompson said area seniors are familiar with Dietert and the programing provided and Saturday's event was a "comfortable place for them to come and gather information they might not get anywhere else." "Anything that engages seniors with things that will improve their lives is important. I see so many smiles from the people here. It's a great opportunity to stay engaged and independent and these resources are here to help them remain independent in their living situation," Thompson added.
