LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - A Trinity man will spend decades in state prison for the murder of a Livingston man.
On June 19, following a two-week trial, a Polk County jury found David Eugene Stimmell guilty of murder in the death of James McClanahan in the 258th Judicial District Court of Polk County.
On Wednesday, August 19, the punishment hearing was held before the Honorable Travis Kitchens, Jr. After considering the evidence presented, Judge Kitchens sentenced Stimmell to 46 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the murder of James McClanahan in January 2024. The case was investigated by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, with Detective Javier Segura serving as the lead investigator.
