New Braunfels Utilities announced Monday that it has transitioned to Conservation Stage 2 after just two weeks under Stage 1, which NBU declared on July 28, as drought persists across the region, a press release stated.

Under the city's code of ordinances, Mayor Michael French and NBU may adjust conservation stages as supply conditions change.

Stage 2 measures are designed to reduce outdoor water use while protecting local water resources, including the Edwards Aquifer and Comal Springs, according to the release.
