Hill Country young women can secure up to $8,000 in scholarships and travel funds for a Missouri liberal arts college through the Philanthropic Educational Organization's regional network.

"There are girls in the Hill Country losing college options because of financial issues, especially after two floods," said Lynda Leslie, chairperson of one of PEO's Cottey College scholarship committees.

The Hill Country has five PEO chapters, including Kerrville, Ingram and Fredericksburg, comprised of active and retired teachers.
