CRANE, Texas (KOSA) - After spending nearly a decade with Big Spring, Cannon McWilliams figured it was time for a change of scenery.

"I haven't been anywhere new in nine years," McWilliams said.

"We've been able to make good relations through April, May and the summer. Now we're just continuing that moving forward. McWilliams took over as the Crane head football coach following the departure of Robert Ontiveroz. The Golden Cranes haven't had a losing season since 2019. Even as the team joins a strengthened six team district, they don't plan on slowing down. "I think the community expects us to win and we want to put a good product on the field," said McWilliams. "Overall the district has gotten a lot tougher and we like it that way."The Crane offense will be led by returning quarterback Hudson Willis. The junior has enjoyed his time with the new staff and feels he has grown as a signal-caller. Willis said, "[McWilliams] has given me all the skills I need to win football games and be a better quarterback."The defense is flying just as fast. First-year starter Oriel Rodriguez believes they can stop any squad on the schedule. "We play fast.
