'Keep them out of reach of children': Law enforcement urges gun safety after Upton County toddler fatally shoots himself

A three-year-old child in McCamey, Texas died after accidentally shooting himself, prompting law enforcement to urge families on proper gun storage and safety.

UPTON COUNTY, Texas (KOSA) - A tragic accident in McCamey left a three-year-old boy dead after he accidentally shot himself in the head.

Now, local officials are reminding families how proper gun storage can help keep firearms out of the hands of children.

According to the Upton County Sheriff's Office, deputies and paramedics responded to a 911 call around 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
