The Fredericksburg Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will host geologist Andrew Pepper as its featured speaker during its July 28 meeting at St. Joseph's Halle.

Pepper's presentation, "The Earth Beneath Our Earth," will explore the geologic history beneath the Texas Hill Country, explaining how the landscape has evolved over the past 35 million years.

The program will include local geologic maps and discuss rock formations ranging from the billion-year-old granite of the Llano Uplift at Enchanted Rock to the 105-million-year-old limestone that caps the mesas around Fredericksburg.
