HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after police said a man was hit and killed by a train in Houston's south side on Monday afternoon.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Holmes Road near Highway 288 at about 1 p.m. after the male pedestrian was hit by the train.

In an update at about 2:15 p.m., HPD told ABC13 that the man had died from his injuries.
