A century ago, 14 women who lived in the Turtle Creek area gathered to form the Turtle Creek Sewing Circle, a social get-together "to establish a feeling of good will" among the residents of that area of the county.

Penny Prislovsky, a member of the modern-day Turtle Creek Sewing Circle, presented the program for the Kerr County Historical Commission meeting last week at the Union Church.

"As we approached our 100th anniversary, we wanted to do something as a special project, so we decided on a cookbook to tell our group's story," Prislovsky said.
