HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in the Independence Heights area on Thursday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said that officers responded to the shooting at 2:30 p.m. at 300 E. Upon arrival, police said that the man was shot at least one time and was later taken to a hospital, where he died.

According to HPD, the man was sitting in a chair under a tree.
