HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) - A veteran-owned nonprofit replaced the roof of a retired Army staff sergeant and his wife near Fort Hood after the couple struggled with leaks and limited assistance from their insurance company.

Earl Zirkle served 21 years in the Army as a staff sergeant.

He and his wife, Elaine, said they had considered selling their home before connecting with Troops Need Roofs, a nonprofit operated through Mottco Roofing Company.'It changed everything'"We were talking about maybe we'll have to sell the house and something like that," Earl Zirkle said.
