East Texas (KLTV/KTRE) - Another East Texas school district is banning energy drinks from its campuses, joining a growing movement to keep highly caffeinated beverages out of classrooms.

Diboll Independent School District announced it has updated its student handbook to prohibit energy drinks this school year, following a similar ban implemented by Gladewater ISD in March.

Diboll ISD Superintendent Igor Gusyakov said the decision was made to protect student health and improve classroom focus."After consulting with the health advisory committee for the district, and talking to our nurses, we were advised to limit the consumption of energy drinks on our campuses," Gusyakov said.
