TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Cases of New World screwworm are rising in the U.S., with about 36 new cases detected last month and another two dozen since the start of November.

The rising number of recorded cases is actually a good thing - because it means efforts to track the spread of the parasite are working.

Officials will have a rare chance to study cases of infestation in wildlife with the opening of deer season on Saturday, November seventh.
