The New Braunfels Police Department is offering vehicle identification number (VIN) etchings on catalytic converters on Monday, Oct. 12.

The etchings aim to protect vehicles from catalytic converter theft, as they will make the parts harder to sell should they be stolen.

NBPD is partnering with Valvoline to provide the free service.
