SRSU receives nearly $3 million grant to expand workforce readiness, capacity News Staff Thu, 09/24/2026 - 06:03 Body Sul Ross State University received almost $3 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Labor through the SRSU RISE Strengthening Institutions Program, a five-year initiative designed to expand workforce readiness, educational opportunity and institutional capacity across the university.

The $2,999,498 grant, which will support work from 2026 through 2031, will fund four coordinated strategies focused on artificial intelligence literacy, competency-based education, dual-credit expansion and preparation for graduate study in psychology.

"RISE represents a significant investment in the future of our students and the communities we serve," said SRSU President Carlos Hernandez.
