LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The City of Longview now offers an American Sign Language class for residents 55 and older at the Green Street Recreation Center.
Patty Sprague teaches the class.
She learned ASL to communicate with her daughter, Tabitha, who has Down syndrome."A lot of times they do have a moderate hearing loss, and my daughter Tabitha does have a moderate hearing loss. And she does have some speech problems. And so, I got fascinated with American Sign Language and actually took a semester way back in Illinois. That's where I used to live. I'm not Texas born," Sprague said.
