HOUSTON — Law enforcement responded to a serious incident Saturday afternoon when a body was discarded in a parking lot at a Southwest Houston residential complex, prompting authorities to launch a homicide investigation.
The discovery occurred around 3:23 p.m. at an apartment community in the 5700 block of Rampart Street, according to the Houston Police Department. A bystander who witnessed the incident immediately contacted emergency services. Officers arriving at the scene found the remains still present at the location, confirming reports from the initial caller.
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet disclosed the victim's name or released details regarding the circumstances that preceded the body's abandonment at the complex. The department indicated that further information would become available as the investigation progresses.
In a separate fatal incident, Houston police were also investigating a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a woman Friday morning in another section of Southwest Houston. Officers arrived at the crash scene near Wilcrest Drive and Bissonnet Street at approximately 6:15 a.m., where they discovered a 46-year-old woman in the roadway's median. She was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is working to formally verify the victim's identity in the Wilcrest Drive case. Police are actively seeking information about the driver and vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
