A Waxahachie woman has been arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder following a shooting that claimed the lives of her two sons early Thursday morning.

Ellis County Sheriff's deputies responded to an emergency call at approximately 4:13 a.m. at a residence in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered two males suffering from gunshot wounds inside the home. The older victim, 21-year-old Christopher Scott Pitre, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old boy was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries, authorities said. The identity of the younger victim remains sealed.

The suspect, Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, was located at the residence with non-life-threatening injuries. After receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, she was transported to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center and booked on the capital murder charges. Lemmon's bond status remains pending arraignment.

Investigators determined through physical evidence and other corroborating findings gathered at the scene that Lemmon fired the shots that killed both victims, according to the Ellis County Sheriff's Office. The specific circumstances surrounding the incident have not been publicly disclosed.

"My deepest sympathies go out to the victims' father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident," Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said. "They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time."

The victims' father has been notified of his sons' deaths, officials said.
