WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank received a big donation of food today, just in time for the holidays.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donation included tons of food, including flour, sugar, beans, fruits and veggies, and even milk.

Food Bank CEO David O'Neil said this donation comes at the perfect time to help a lot of people."We're incredibly grateful this morning to be able to get a full truckload of food coming from the Church of Latter-day Saints. They do this across the country and were blessed to be able to get this truck in. Its such a meaningful time of the year during the holidays in order to feed and nourish over 43, 000 food insecure neighbors across 12 counties."David O'Neil, CEO of Wichita Falls Area Food BankLocal members of the Church of Latter-day Saints explained how and why they help with donations like these."So our church has their own dairies, own farms that produce a lot of products and so they use those for our members and any time there is a surplus they send them out throughout the country. We also ship many other items throughout the world, mainly disaster relief. When there's a hurricane, an earthquake, we will send items to those areas that are life-sustaining and that can help them rebuild their lives."Brenda Johnson and Alexander Smith, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day SaintsThe food bank said that one in five local neighbors experiences hunger.
