According to the West Kerr Current, the city council voted to raise the tax rate from 38 cents per 100 dollar valuation to 53 cents per 100 dollar valuation.
The date for a special meeting to adopt the rate has yet to be determined.
According to Councilman Rocky Hawkins, the increase was due to the county and the sewer system.
