The city of New Braunfels held a first reading and public hearing on the fiscal year 2027 budget and tax rate on Sept. 10, following several workshop meetings in weeks prior.

The proposed 2027 tax rate is $0. 4156 - an approximate 0. 67-cent increase from the current rate and the calculated no-new-revenue rate, which is necessary to generate the same amount of revenue as the previous year.

The city experienced an overall property value growth of 2. 1%, including new value added to the rolls, Assistant City Manager Jared Werner said.
