Comal County and city of New Braunfels officials are making preparations ahead of heavy rains and potential flash flooding expected to hit Central Texas Wednesday night.

The Emergency Operations Center was opened Tuesday afternoon, where city and county officials are actively monitoring the forecast, checking readiness with their response partners and preparing to increase operations should conditions warrant, according to Comal County Emergency Management Coordinator Sammy Sikes.

In a press conference Monday, Sept. 28, Gov. Gregg Abbott announced that the state had preemptively allocated resources and emergency response personnel to local jurisdictions, The Herald-Zeitung previously reported.
