(KGNS) - Laredo health advocates and city leaders are urging residents to prioritize breast cancer screenings as October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Officials reported routine checkups dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a rise in local breast cancer diagnoses.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, Laredo city officials partnered with the American Cancer Society to promote early detection initiatives across the community.
