Tivy's boys were frustratingly close to qualifying for the UIL State Cross Country Meet, placing sixth, eight points away from fourth, when they completed their race at the Region IV 4A meet held Oct. 26 in Corpus Christi.

A silver lining for the Antlers was that, after finishing third in 27-4A behind champion Fredericksburg and second-place Davenport, they leaped over the Billies and Wolves at the next level.

Fredericksburg was seventh and Davenport 11th.
