Uvalde County lifted its burn ban at 2 p.m. Oct. 1 after 14 days, following 1. 75 inches of rain.

The county put the ban into effect Sept. 17, prohibiting outdoor burning to reduce the risk of wildfires.

Interim county judge Jerry Bates told the Leader-News the rainfall had created conditions safe enough to allow outdoor burning again.
