A preliminary investigation by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers revealed a SUV driven by a 17-year-old Tyler girl ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old Tyler man, DPS spokesperson Adam Albritton said in a statement.
Gustavo Arellanes, a passenger in the SUV, died at the scene, and the drivers of both vehicles and a 5-year-old child passenger in the truck were taken to a local hospital for unknown injuries, Albritton said.
