After being heavily involved in Davenport High School's Future Farmers of America (FFA) program, recent graduate Kate Nash now serves as the Texas FFA Area VII State Vice President.

Nash graduated from DHS in May 2026 and was officially elected to her state officer role in July, where she said she is one of 12 student leaders for Texas FFA's approximate 175,000 members.

"Throughout the year, we do everything from chapter visits where we come to FFA chapters and local schools and we host workshops and talk to the members," Nash said, "to things like business and industry tours, where we can learn more about different niches in agriculture and different industries, and bring those things back to our members." Nash has found that serving as a state officer has provided her with both professional and personal development, such as learning effective communication skills and gaining networking opportunities.
