29-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez made his first appearance before a judge after being arrested and charged with injury to a child - serious bodily injury.

The investigation began after a couple arrived at a gas station on Cypresswood Drive in the Spring, Texas area and sought help from law enforcement for an unresponsive 2-year-old.

Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputies began life-saving measures until EMS arrived, according to the Precinct 4 Deputies' Office.
