WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A 51-year-old former Waco man who sexually abused a 12-year-old girl almost three decades ago and who fathered four children with her after living as a couple for 10 years was sentenced to 30 years in prison Monday.

Augustine Alvarez was set to stand trial Monday in Waco's 54th State District Court before accepting a plea agreement from the McLennan County District Attorney's Office.

Alvarez, a thee-time convicted felon, was living in Cleburne and had three more children with another woman when the McLennan County abuse survivor came forward with her accusations in May 2024.
