COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Just outside of the Association of Former Students is the monument to the Aggie ring, a popular picture location and a symbol of a goal that many Aggies have when they first come to campus"I wake up just with the opportunity to go to school, and I just take advantage of it every single time. I feel like it's paid off now. It really has, and this is just a sign of that," said Harrison Sobey, Class of 2027. No matter who you ask around Aggieland, it is much more than just a ring."Aggie Ring Day is, for most students, the highlight of their academic career. A day that they look forward to from the moment they get admitted. For some of them who grew up in Aggie families, it's a day they've been looking forward to for two decades," said Scot Walker, the Vice President of the Association of Former Students.
For Aggie ring recipient Marisa Goode, that family legacy was one of the driving factors to work towards their ring.
Their mother, also an Aggie alum."I mean, the Aggie ring's always something everybody works towards. And my mom has her Aggie ring, so that was kind of just, you know, I wanted to have an Aggie ring with her. So I think it's just excitement, happiness, joy, all the things," said Goode."So very proud, very thankful. And it was an awesome experience and awesome. I can't describe the feeling it is to have your child go to the school that you went to," said Beth Goode, Marisa's mother.
