In Elizabeth Downey's classroom at Walnut Springs Elementary, she fosters an environment where her students feel empowered to speak up, view mistakes as learning opportunities and build confidence in themselves.
Downey has been teaching for 17 years, with the last 12 being at Walnut Springs Elementary.
She previously began her teaching career in Seguin Independent School District as a middle school teacher.
