Gov. Greg Abbott during a recent press conference proclaimed October 2026 as "Law Enforcement Appreciation Month" in Texas and lauded peace officers for their dedication.

During the press conference Oct. 2 in the Governor's Mansion, Abbott highlighted a $7. 5 billion federal reimbursement secured for Texas' border security costs and recognized the officers assigned to Operation Lone Star.

Texas has also applied for its share of the $3 billion in border reimbursement from the Department of Justice, the Governor's Office said.
