COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - Texas A&M System regents approved construction of a new $11. 755 million water tower at the RELLIS Campus this week, a project leaders say is necessary to support the campus's growing infrastructure needs.

The 1-million-gallon elevated water tower will replace the campus's aging 300,000-gallon tower - built decades ago to serve what was once a military airfield.

Board Chairman Bob Albritton said the project isn't glamorous, but it's essential to the System's bigger ambitions at RELLIS, including the Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute."It's kind of like sewers," Albritton said.
