WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Honduran national testified Tuesday Rey David Benitez-Gomez shot him in a jealous rage three years ago after telling him if he couldn't be together with the mother of his daughter, neither could he.

Benitez-Gomez, 27, is on trial in Waco's 54th State District Court on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of deadly conduct in a December 2023 incident that left Daniel Villatoro in critical condition and Blanca Iturralde, the teenage mother of Benitez-Gomez's child, traumatized.

Villatoro, who had never met Benitez-Gomez before the night he was shot, and Iturralde both testified Tuesday about the violent altercation with Benitez-Gomez that occurred while his 10-month-old daughter was in the car.
