KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Food For Families is more than a month away, but staff at the Killeen Food Care Center are getting ready now.

Volunteers with United Way of Central Texas and HEB came to the Killeen Food Care Center as part of their Day of Caring."They are helping us to sort and distribute groceries, and to help us prepare for Food For Families. Which will happen on Friday, November 20, 2026," said Dr. Natasha Clarke, executive director of the Killeen Food Care Center.

Preparing for this year's driveLast year, the center collected over 200,000 pounds of food during the event."We have already had organizations calling in and saying hey, we want to donate. Such as KISD, RK Bass Electric Company, and they are saying hey, we are ready to drop off food. So, we want to be prepared. We want to make sure the warehouse is cleaned out, sorted, and everything is ready to go," Clarke said.
