By Texas Forest Service Statistics And The Sheriff's on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 The Kurk Fire began on September 8th, burning approximately 824 acres in San Saba County.

The fire was reported 100% contained as of September 13 around 5 p.m. Despite the size of the fire, no structures were lost.

The fire brought a tremendous response from our local departments as well as mutual-aid agencies from surrounding areas, with numerous firefighters and emergency personnel working together throughout the incident.
