Casa Rio, the oldest restaurant on the River Walk, is getting a rooftop glow up.

Credit: Sanford Nowlin The Night Heron, the rooftop dining and bar concept that downtown Tex-Mex institution Casa Rio teased nearly a year ago, is finally moving ahead.

State records show the operators of Casa Rio, the River Walk's oldest restaurant, will start work on the 4,000-square-foot addition on Sept. 21 with expected completion date in October 2027.
