LAREDO, Tex.

(KGNS) - A local dermatologist is urging teenagers to simplify their skincare routines and seek professional care early, warning that social media trends and over-the-counter products are not a substitute for personalized treatment.

Dr. Adam Swigost of Sonterra Dermatology Clinic said the pressure on young people to maintain clear skin has grown alongside the rise of platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where skincare advice is widely shared but rarely tailored to the individual."Unless you're listening to a board-certified dermatologist and going to a visit where the advice is personalized and individualized, you're not getting the best care for you," Swigost said.
